Most vehicle air conditioning systems will lose between 10 and 15% of their refrigerant each year and Manufacturers recommend your air-con system is recharged with gas and lubricant every two years.
Aircon systems not fully recharged will be less effective and have to work harder, putting more strain on the engine and using more fuel.
This service is not part of routine vehicle servicing, so if your vehicle is more than two years old it is probably due a recharge.
Does your air conditioning create a musty smell?
Fungus and bacteria will build up in the evaporator core of your system which can cause a strange smell when in use and can trigger an allergic reaction in some people.
Your vehicle’s air con system will be thoroughly cleaned with anti-bacterial treatment as part of your air con service.
Did you know your vehicle’s air con system has an internal filter?
It is called a receiver drier or an accumulator, depending on the type of system your vehicle is fitted with. These have a two to three-year life span and if not replaced can have dramatic effects on the life of your system.
